Taking Burdock root daily has had a significant impact on my life, its a blood purifier, provides liver support, and is used to treat skin disorders from acne to psoriasis. “Traditionally, it has been used as a “blood purifier” to clear the bloodstream of toxins, as a diuretic (helping rid the body of excess water by increasing urine output), and as a topical remedy for skin problems such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis.” According to the University of Maryland.

Cathy Wong, ND, Naturopathic Doctor states, “In traditional Chinese medicine, emotions and physical health are intimately connected….. For example, irritability and inappropriate anger can affect the liver and result in menstrual pain, headache, redness of the face and eyes, dizziness and dry mouth.”

By offering liver support it means your body is better able to process toxins, but in addition to physical toxins, it is able to support the liver in releasing energetic toxins as well. The liver is known as the seat house of anger, the place in your physical body where anger is stored. I have been able to recognize the role that anger has played in my life and am better able to accept it and utilize it as fuel to create with.

In addition to the spiritual manifestations of Burdock it also has a track record for healing that is some centuries old. According to the University of Maryland, “The medicinal uses of burdock in treating chronic diseases such as cancers, diabetes, and AIDS have also been reported.”

It is a highly nutritious vegetable that is consumed throughout the world it contains inulin, a carbohydrate, that aids in digestion. Web MD reports,” Early research suggests that eating batter prepared from dried burdock root together with butter, water, salt, artificial sweetener, and ginger extract prevents a spike in blood sugar after eating in people with diabetes.”

Burdock has many uses and has been used to treat various ailments over centuries, it is a nutritious and delicious food source, and has powerful spiritual implications. It can be taken three times per day medicinally, because it causes uterine contractions and should be avoided during pregnancy.
